Recently released on the homepage for O.N.E. Coconut Water are four outstanding commercials directed by John Ford. John did a fantastic job bringing visuals, sound and music together to make powerful branding videos that showcase elite athletes in their element. The cinematography work by Todd Banhazl on the Arri Alexa was superb and made color correction extremely fun for us, as there wasn’t any “fixing” required, just creative enhancements.
Both the director and DP sat in on the session during the color process. They wanted a look that didn’t stray too much from the Alexa’s flatter “Log-C” setting (for more information about Log-C and the Arri Alexa visit Arri’s Website), but wanted to add a little local contrast, match the color, and give everything a slight overall “look”.
The black and white spot was also very exciting creating rich contrast and playing with power windows and RGB mixing to give a stylized, sharp, black and white image. You can take a look at the four spots below or on Coconut Water’s Homepage.
