Red Sky Pictures recently finished working with REP Interactive who produced Coldwell Banker’s “Previews International” commercial. Red Sky was hired as on-set DIT to provide production with digital dailies, assist with camera settings, create looks for the Director of Photography, and manage and backup all the footage. The production was filmed with the Red MX camera and as each card filled up throughout the day, Red Sky created multiple backups, color corrected each shot, converted them to files for the editors to begin working on later that night as well as iPad dailies.
The color corrected files gave the client an idea of the final product’s look on set and during editing rather than the unadjusted look of the files coming straight out of the camera (which can scare many clients who are unfamiliar with digital post workflow). On set, the color corrected files were also uploaded to iPads so the director, director of photography, and clients could instantly see what they were shooting. The process not only ensured everything was prepared for editorial and safely backed up to multiple locations, but also gave everyone peace of mind on set that all the necessary material was being filmed.
After the editors completed editing, the project was reconnected to the original camera data and brought over to Red Sky Pictures. The director (Jeremy Flores) and director of photography (Ryan Ovadia) sat in and watched as the footage was brought to life as each shot was meticulously adjusted and tweaked. By using selective adjustments, power windows, and advanced color correction tools, each shot had specific areas that were enhanced further and problem areas resolved. The final product can be seen on Coldwell Banker’s Previews website http://www.coldwellbankerpreviews.com/previews-legacy or in the video below.
